They got outta Dodge

This site had production at some point in the past, as you can see by the meter and the piping running off the wellhead. The former operator apparently got the heck out of Dodge. We're not yet sure if there is still a forgotten source of income down in the hole... but we're working with the landowner to find out.

Overcoming challenges

Many of these old sites were, quite simply, ran hard until they were exhausted. Many operators just wanted to get as much money as possible, as quickly as possible, with little regard for the longevity of the well. Once all of the resource had been depleted (or so they thought), they would just walk away, plain and simple. There are abandoned facilities like this all over Western Kentucky. This is one of many.
